This summer Universal opened a new attraction where a Day in the park with Barney used to show. The inside is a combination character meet and greet mixed with a dance party. The best part for the grown ups is AC and plenty of benches to sit and rest! Our last trip this was my 5 year olds favorite place to go which was fine with me as it was hot and humid.
The characters come out up to 3 at a time and are stationed up on a stage that has the room separated into 3 sections. Each of the characters take a few minutes in 1 area before rotating around until they have been to all the sides. There is plenty of time to take photos and interact with the characters. When they move spots they have a cute little dance break.
In addition to the costumed characters they also have 3 dancers/character handlers as well as an MC who gives fun facts about the characters and their movies and there is even a bit of trivia sprinkled in. The characters usually change out every 20 or so minutes and we noticed they are broke down into almost the same 3 characters each day. But if you stick around long enough you are guaranteed to see the characters listed here.
- Madagascar – Alex the lion, Gloria, penguins, King Julian
- Kung Fu Panda – Po, Tigress
- Trolls- Poppy, Branch, Guy diamond
- Shrek – Puss in Boots
The courtyard at the entrance also has a few back drops set up where characters have been coming out throughout the day as well. As of the 1st of July you can catch Boss Baby at one of the outdoor photo greeting spots. This is such a fun idea and I am glad they made it indoors.
