While visiting Halloween Horror nights we had a chance to try some specialty treats. For those who aren’t quite brave enough to visit at night you can stop by the Tribute store near the Jimmy Fallon ride for a selection of sweets.

First, we tried the tombstone trifle cake from the Tribute store. While this looked really good it was actually disgusting, even the kids didn’t care for it. For $10 this was a big disappointment.

Next up is the candy corn brownie. The brownie part was really hard and thick and not really what I think of as a brownie, but the kids enjoyed it. It was messy when trying to eat as it was hard to get a piece on the fork, I actually bent the fork trying to break a piece off. Overall, would not get again.

Last of our Tribute store treats was the Frankenstein cupcake. The bolts on the side we actually little chocolate screws but the girls ate them before I could snap a picture, very cute touch. The cupcake was alright but it needed the icing for flavor. Overall the items we got from the store case were underwhelming.

Surprisingly quite a few of the quick service restaurants were open during HHN but we choose Monster Cafe since its rarely open when we visit during the day. They offered a turkey leg and 2 side so the kids choose mac n cheese and french fries. The turkey leg was ok once we peeled away the skin and was enough for us to share.

Also at the monster cafe we tried the Riebekuchen – a potato pancake with applesauce and crème fresh. I think we just got a bad one because others have said they really enjoyed but the one we had was dry and hard to eat. For $7.99 I would skip this one.

For dessert we tried the Bride of Frankenstien oreo layer cake. This one was $4.99 vs the $10 at the tribute store and was so much better. The only thing I would warn of is the black icing will stain your lips for a bit.
