Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside is located right next door to its sister resort Port Orleans French Quarter. Both are in the moderate resort category, but this is the bigger if the 2 resorts. There are standard rooms that offer an optional 5th sleeper pull down twin bed for more sleeping space, but we choose one of the Royal Guest rooms for our stay.

The Royal guest rooms come with 2 queen beds and a decent amount of space, so no one is tripping over furniture or each other moving around compared to the value resort rooms. Princesses are the main theme of this room with cute touches all over including the magic carpet from Aladdin, the ottoman from Beaty and the Beast and Ariels dinglehopper (fork) on the shower curtain.

Like all rooms on property there is a TV, mini fridge and coffee pod machine with coffee and tea.

Outside the bathroom you will find a double sink and space for storing luggage. You will also find a small wall safe and iron/ironing board.

The bathroom has a bathtub and shower combo which is nice as a lot of the resorts are being renovated to shower only.

The most exciting part of the room for the girls were the headboards. They feature a beautiful picture of the bayou from Princess and frog. Pressing a small button on the side makes a firework light display.

Every night after the lights were off before we went to sleep the kids would press the buttons and watch the fireworks.

The Royal guest rooms are the perfect for any princess lover and there are fun details in the boarders around the rooms. The one downside is these rooms are farther away from the main building for dining and swimming. We had a rental car so it was easy to get around the resort but for those without there are multiple bus stops that can drop guests off near the main building and take you to the theme parks. We would definitely stay here again but we love the small feel of the French Quarter resort too.
