Mel’s drive-in is a quick service located in Universal Studios near the Transformers ride. The interior is like a fun 50’s diner with neon lights and checkerboard floors. The menu includes burgers, chicken tenders, onion rings and for dessert you can get a milkshake or root beer floats.

The booths each have tabletop jukeboxes to add to the retro décor. In the past you would have ordered from the counter but with covid now you order from your table. Each is marked with a number and barcode to scan on the app after placing your order. Like most of the quick service on property you can purchase the refillable Coke freestyle cups and they have several machines so you can fill your drink during your meal.

All the kids wanted chicken tenders for lunch. The meal option here comes with fries and milkshake either vanilla, chocolate or swirl. The portions are big enough they could have shared the chicken and fries, but I got them each their own meal. If we eat here again we will just get 2 orders to share and buy everyone a milkshake separately because it’s a lot of food.

I decided to try the grilled chicken sandwich. I have found the grilled chicken in the parks is usually dry and flavorless so I used some of the girls honey mustard to dress it up a bit. Overall the food here was nice and fresh and the girls loved the style of the diner.
