The hotel situation at Disneyland California is much different than we are used to at Disney World. There are currently only 3 official Disney resorts on property, and the rest are all independent and national chain hotels and motels. For our trip the cheapest of the official Disney hotel was around $450 per night which was way more than we normally spend on our WDW rooms, so I decided to look at the “good neighbor” hotels. Since my girls are getting older everyone likes their own beds when possible so I looked for rooms that could accommodate in additional also wanted one easy to get to the parks. Ultimately decided on the Cortona inn and suites off Harbor Blvd.

I choose one of the suites and it was around $150 per night. This hotel does include free breakfast each morning which had several hot items along with cereal, breads and coffee/juices. This hotel is right on Harbor Blvd. which is where a majority of the hotels are located and the entrance to the Disney Parks and downtown Disney.

The main reason I picked this hotel was the larger room size, the room I booked had 2 queen beds and a bunk bed but when we checked in, they were renovating those rooms so instead we had a king bed, bunk bed and pull-out sofa.

There was a door between the kids area and the main area that you could close if needed and a TV that was automatically set to the Disney channel which I thought was a nice touch. Now as much as I really wanted to like this room because of how spacious it was and the fact everyone got their own bed, I could not get over how outdated it was. The carpet on the floor just made the room feel gross and dirty and behind the furniture was built-up dust.

The bathroom is very small especially considering this room is meant for families, it was hard for everyone to get ready quickly in the morning as really only one person can fit at a time. There’s a standard tub/shower which had built-in bottles of shampoo, conditioner and bodywash.

The hotel did have a few amenities that made it worth the stay. There were 2 pools and a small gift shop with plenty of Disney themed souvenirs. Not many of the hotels offer transportation to the theme parks so it was nice this was close enough to walk to the Toy Story parking lot where we took the free bus to Disneyland.
While the amenities were great and the cost of the room was perfect for our budget, I just cannot get past how dirty the room felt so I would not stay here again unless they made some changes to the rooms.
